Boy Scout Training

Welcome to the exciting world of Boy Scout Training.  THANK YOU for volunteering to assist the program.  Below, you will find all of the steps necessary to complete the required training.  Once you have completed all the training listed, you can proudly wear the "Trained" patch on your uniform.

 

STEP 1:  Youth Protection Training
  1. Log onto the Online Learning Center.
  2. Click on the General tab.
  3. Click on "Youth Protection Training"
  4. Complete the training.
  5. Once you have completed training, "View Certificate" will appear beneath "Retake Course".  Click on "View Certificate" and save the certificate of completion to your computer.  Then, email a copy of that file to the District Youth Protection Coordinator, Maia Briggs, and a copy to your Troop Training Coordinator.
     
STEP 2:  Fast Start Training for Your Position
  1. Log onto the Online Learning Center.
  2. Click on the Boy Scout tab.
  3. Click on the Fast Start: Boy Scouting program for the position for which you have volunteered.
  4. Complete the training.
  5. Once you have completed training, "View Certificate" will appear beneath "Retake Course".  Click on "View Certificate" and save the certificate of completion to your computer.  Then, email a copy of that file to the District Training Registrar, Patty Hisey, and a copy to your Troop Training Coordinator.
STEP 3:  New Leader Essentials New Leader Essentials is held by the Simon Kenton Council or Tri-Creek District (or any other District).  It is instructor-led training, approximately 90-minutes long, and provides an overview of the core elements of Scouting.  To find a currently-scheduled session, visit the Tri-Creek District Calendar.
STEP 4:  Leader-Specific Training This instructor-led training session is designed to train the new leader in the specific responsibilities of his or her position.  Specific training is available for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Troop Committee Chairs and Members.  To find a currently-scheduled session, visit the Tri-Creek District Calendar.
STEP 5:  Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills This is a hands-on instructor-led program designed to give adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the outdoors.
Congratuations!  At this point, you've completed all required Boy Scout Training.  But don't stop here!  Many opportunities exist to expand your knowledge!
